Mehrdad Moshtaghi, a 27-year-old architect and passionate Real Madrid fan from Arak, was severely injured on January 9, 2026, during a wave of protests. He sustained a severe head injury, which reports indicate was caused by a direct gunshot, and fell into a coma with minimal brain activity. After five days in the hospital, he passed away on January 14, 2026, and was buried under heavy security restrictions that prevented the public from attending his funeral.
مهرداد مشتاقی (متین)، معمار ۲۷ ساله و هوادار پرشور رئال مادرید اهل اراک، در جریان اعتراضات ۱۹ دی ۱۴۰۴ بر اثر اصابت گلوله مستقیم یا ضربه شدید به سر دچار آسیب جدی شد و به کما رفت. وی پس از پنج روز بستری در بیمارستان در حالی که سطح هوشیاریاش به زیر ۵ درصد رسیده بود، در ۲۴ دیماه جان باخت. پیکر او تحت تدابیر شدید امنیتی و با ممانعت نیروهای حکومتی از حضور عموم، تنها با شرکت اعضای خانواده به خاک سپرده شد.
